Trip

Hornbill festival is a 10 day festival, commencing  on December 1st, held in Kisama Heritage Village. This festival highlights the bird, hornbill, as a symbol of respect. It is beautifully portrayed in the tribal dance where the tribes wear feathers on head to depict the bird. The melange of tribal performances, displays lifestyle, tradition, ethnic crafts, music concert, food, sports, fairs and games, all together unveils the authenticity of this place and the festival.

Itinerary:

Day 01:

  • On Arrival at Dimapur airport, drive to Kohima ( 3hrs journey)
  • Enroute visit regional vegetables, fruits and other indigenous products, which are produced locally.
  • Check in hotel

 

Day 02:

  • Breakfast at the residence
  • Visit the state museum
  • Visit the World War Cemetery and understand more about the WWII battle that took place in Kohima.
  • Lunch at an eatery. We would recommend D cafe.
  • Head the cathedral overlooking Kohima.
  • Head to Kisama Village – the venue of the Hornbill Festival.
  • Dinner at the residence and rest for the night.

 

Day 03:

  • Breakfast at the residence
  • Visit to Khonoma, an Angami warrior village and Asia’s first green village filled with beautiful terraced paddy fields.
  • Lunch at Dovipie inn
  • Visit to the picturesque village of Dzuleke.
  • Head up to the forested areas where we might get to spot a Mithun, the state animal, is the pride of Nagaland
  • Back to Kohima.  Dinner at the residence and rest for the night.

 

Day 04:

  • Breakfast at the residence
  • Visit Kisama Village – the venue of the Hornbill Festival.
  • Lunch at the festival, tasting the regional cuisines
  • Dinner at the residence and rest for the night.

 

Day 05:

  • Breakfast at the residence.
  • Leave for Dimapur Airport  (4hours journey)
